Our church is starting off the New Year with a 40 day fast. The fast can be from entertainment, electronics or certain foods. We are to be fasting and praying and seeking God. Our church, state, and even our country needs a fresh awareness of God and we need to repent from sin.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s, the big problem in school was running in the halls and chewing gum in class. Our children and grandchildren have to go to school with the fear that someone may shoot them down in the halls.
In this time, breast feeding mothers are offensive, but magazines with naked women on the covers are accepted without question. Movies and TV are full of naked people doing crazy things.
So the world is a different place now, we still need God, we still need to pray and we still do not belong to ourselves. God loves us more than we love ourselves and we belong to Him.
God have mercy on us.
